Vegie Bench – A New Australian Innovation in Vertical Growing
Vegie Bench is a completely new Australian-made vertical growing system, available in both Solar Powered and Electric models. Designed for simplicity, versatility, and efficiency, it allows you to grow a wider variety of fresh produce—faster and with less effort—than traditional liquid-only hydroponic systems.
Grow from Seed or Seedlings
The coir-filled pots create the ideal growing environment, allowing a much wider range of plants to thrive compared to standard NFT (Nutrient Film Technology) systems.
Safer, Smarter Water & Nutrient Delivery
With Vegie Bench, plant roots stay moist and nourished 24 hours a day—not just when the pump is running.
This greatly reduces the risks associated with traditional NFT systems while making a solar-powered option possible, with no ongoing electricity costs.
Traditional NFT systems often require pumps to run for 8–10 hours per day. Vegie Bench's water-retaining coir and specially designed channel dramatically reduce pump operating time while keeping plants perfectly hydrated.
Smart, Cost-Saving Water Storage
To reduce freight costs and increase nutrient capacity, we recommend purchasing a 75-litre plastic rubbish bin (or similar container) from your local hardware store to use as the system's main reservoir.
Why Vegie Bench Works Better
✔ Superior Water & Nutrient Retention
The unique Australian-made Vegie Bench channel is wider and deeper than standard NFT channels, allowing it to hold more water and nutrient solution. The coir naturally wicks moisture upwards, maintaining the ideal moisture level for healthy plant growth.
✔ Easy Access & Use
Simply remove each pot, harvest or trim what you need, then place it back into the channel—no mess, no bending, and no disturbance to neighbouring plants.
✔ Solar or Electric Operation
Choose the option that best suits your location.
Solar Powered – No ongoing electricity costs.
Electric – Simple plug-and-play convenience.
✔ Less Frequent Pump Operation
Reduced pump operation means:
Less wear and tear on equipment
Greater water savings
Lower maintenance
Reduced running costs
✔ Manual Watering Backup
If the pump or power ever fails, you can easily water the system manually to keep your plants healthy until normal operation is restored.
✔ Easily Expandable
Expand your system at any time by adding additional Vegie Bench units using the same pump and solar panel, saving money as your garden grows.
✔ Faster, Healthier Growth
Enjoy faster plant growth, healthier root systems, water savings of around 90%, and virtually no weeding or soil preparation.
✔ Quality Construction
Designed for durability and easy maintenance, Vegie Bench features removable channel lids for quick and simple cleaning.

I have tried several good quality planter trolleys, but the Vertigo Heavy Duty Australian made Heavy Duty trolleys are the very best. They roll SO easily. I have a verandah full of garden pots of various sizes & weights. Originally (3 yrs ago) I used Vertigo's older style trolleys with turnups, for my very heavy pots. I zip them around by day or season to have best weather aspect and to clean under them. Recently I bought (& I'm about to buy another 6) of the new style flat-topped trolleys for rectangular planter tubs that will get very heavy as bougainvillea grows. I bought the smallest size - that's why you can't even see them under my pots. They would also roll on much rougher surfaces than I have.
I've given them as presents too, because so many have asked about them. I love that they are Australian made and so well made to last and work well.

Terrific Trolleys
We are really pleased with the heavy duty pot trolleys. Trying to grow citrus in Tasmania is challenging and moving them to adapt to the seasons is vital. Having tried cheaper rubbish from major chains that broke within days we settled on these and won’t look back. Will definitely buy more.

Amazing for growing strawberries!
I’ve already bought 4 extra large twin towers. Strawberries are going great, yum.
I was also sent the wrong colour (colour was my fault) and amount, I don’t say this to be negative, I say it because they resolved very fairly. So I’m a life long customer.
Wishing for an even bigger version one day though!

Great trolleys!
So happy with the pot trolleys I ordered. I used these trolleys to replace some cheaper ones I had bought earlier from the local hardware. These trolleys from Vertigro are so much better: strong, easy to wheel in all directions and look good under the pots. Highly recommended!

Great piece of garden equipment
I have an upright maple that needed to be transferred to a very large pot and I knew I needed the ability to move it around the deck easily. This plant trolley did the trick! Super lightweight, but so sturdy and durable, it glides over my deck comfortably and hold my maple with ease. Love it!
